This Lent has been hard.
Not just “a little bumpy” kind of hard, but soul-worn, deeply unsettled kind of hard.It felt like I was being pulled apart at the seams—spiritually pressed on every side.It began with strange dreams that left me waking in a cold sweat, and the oddest things around me—small, parasite-like shadows—seemed to sap the joy from ordinary moments.
Emotionally, I felt thin.
Weary.
And as I sat with it, I realized something:Lent has never been easy for me.Each year, in its own quiet way, it brings this subtle wrestling. This aching. This revealing.
I got curious—wondering if anyone else felt this way too.If Lent was a gentle unraveling for others, the way it seems to be for me.So I looked it up. I asked around. And somehow, knowing I wasn’t alone brought a strange kind of comfort.
The Meaning of Lent
Lent is a sacred stretch of 40 days that mirrors the time Jesus spent in the wilderness—fasting, praying, and standing firm against every temptation hurled His way. It’s not meant to be cozy. It’s meant to refine. To strip us of the noise and bring us closer to the One who walked through the desert before us.
And maybe…that’s the point.Maybe the wilderness is where love does its deepest work.
Holy Thursday commemorated the Last Supper of Jesus Christ when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion before his arrest and crucifixion.
Good Friday is a day on which Christians worldwide observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The day is celebrated on the Friday before Easter Sunday and is a significant event in the Christian faith.
Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ; three days after he was crucified by Romans around 30 A.D. "Easter's roots (date back to) a day in the week Christ rose from the dead.
